Canton South High School Mamma Mia Musical
Canton South High School will present the musical Mamma Mia on November 6 and 7, 2021, in the Canton South Performing Arts Center.
The Mamma Mia cast features Shelby Wayble as Donna, Abigail Bryant as Sophie, Ethan Knop as Sam, Jackson Stutler as Harry, Donnie Boswell as Bill, Alleniki Nichols as Tanya, Mikayla Ousley as Rosie, and Jordan Soderstrom as Sky, as well as an ensemble cast of Canton South students and Canton Local Staff.
Mamma Mia follows the story of Sophie, a young girl living in Greece, who is in search of a father she has never met. She invites three men that she discovers in her mother’s diary and believes to be candidates. When they arrive, Sophie’s mother, Donna, is understandably upset as Sophie, her fiancée Sky, Donna, her friends, and the three potential fathers prepare for Sophie’s wedding. Emotions run high, and surprises await.
The Mamma Mia directing team is artistic director Stefanie Abbott Fatzinger, music director Amy Hogue, assistant director Cathy Ferrell, choreographer Lucy Thompson, and technical director Anthony DePinto. Student directors include Makenna Daniels, Corrine Thompson, and student music director Zoyie Greene.
This popular musical is written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, based on the songs of ABBA, composed by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, former members of the band.
Performances are at Canton South High School in the Performing Arts Center on November 6 at 7pm and November 6 and November 7 at 2 pm. Tickets can be purchased in the Canton Local district office during school hours beginning October 12 for $10 each. All seats are reserved.
