Masks Strongly Recommended in School Buildings

Beginning Tuesday, January 18, masks will be strongly recommended but no longer required in our school buildings. However, due to federal public transportation requirements, masks are still required on school transportation, including school buses.  Additionally, students and staff who have been identified as close contacts to a positive COVID case will still be required to mask for a designated period of time following exposure. We will continue to monitor our COVID data, and work with the Stark County Health Department to follow their COVID guidelines.

Character Strong

Preparing For Today’s World

One of the goals at Faircrest is to equip young people for all the realities of today’s world. With that in mind, the school has partnered with CharacterStrong - an organization that provides training for educators and social and emotional learning curriculum for students. Work in grades six-eight focuses on three main outcomes: increasing a sense of belonging for all students, improving skills that support student well-being, and deepening student engagement in academics, school, and the community. Middle school students take part in CharacterStrong learning every Tuesday and are encouraged to make meaningful improvements in five key areas:

• Emotion Understanding & Regulation: How We Feel & How We Act

• Empathy & Compassion: What We Understand & How We Care

• Values & Purpose: Who We Are & What We Do

• Goals & Habits: The Dreams We Have & The Actions To Get There

• Leadership & Teamwork: Developing Agency & Working Together
